It took me a little while to really begin to understand Tallulahs voice. The book takes place in Britain and even though I love British television (there is at least one Doctor Who reference in this book by the way) and I regularly watch films and entertainment from across the pond, I still had a hard time. There are a lot of words and turns of phrase that I didnt quite catch when the British-isms got mashed up with teenager-isms.I did take note that the book states it is for ages thirteen andFunniest book I've ever read
Disgusted, I read it thinking it would be some sort of childish link to the real novel which given that part of its in Yorkshire dialect and was written 200 years ago- it does not excuse this utter garbage. I rarely hate a book but I know 12/13 year olds that can write better and with more grammatical accuracy, they at least know how to write fan fiction correctly. This was a total let down. I LOVE the Georgia books. (Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging) They are some of my favorites, so I was super excited to read this one. It was kind of horrible. I read this for the "Author Whose Last Name Starts With The Same Initial As Yours" part of my 2020 reading challenge. It was good, but I didn't find it as "laugh out loud" funny as the author's other series.
Rereading Louise Rennison's books is like hanging out with an old friend and I love it.
This is an absolutely delightful Young Adult novel. The main character is a quirky, gawky 14 year old girl off to a performing arts school for the summer. She is relatively self-aware of her oddities; however, not so much of her attributes. While Tallulah doesn't necessarily embrace the clumsiness and awkwardness of being a teen-aged girl, she plods, unapologetically, through our story in a quite charming fashion.
