One by One (Robert Hunter #5)
Det. Robert Hunter and his partner Det. Carlos Garcia must track down a serial killer who is broadcasting his murders over the internet. Viewers are given a choice as to how they would like the victim to die.The movie "Untraceable" was released in 2008 and starred Diane Lane. It had the exact same plot, in which a killer broadcasts his murders over the internet. This book was published in 2013, five years later. The killers in both even have the same motive! This book skates uncomfortably close

So. Here we are the fifth book in the serious. I had to have a break as I found the first 4 books becoming repetitive. Im glad I did, as I absolutely loved this one. I don't know if it was the break or if this book has some differences to the linear compared to the other books, as to why I enjoyed it so much. There were parts where I thought I wanted to throw up and parts where I was completely on edge with stress and anxiety for the characters. I like a book that can make me feel like that, I
The 5th book in the Robert Hunter series of books by Chris Carter.I was really looking forward to this book as I rated all of his previous 4 books 5 stars. I started late yesterday and I just couldn't put it down. Like the other books it is not for the feint hearted, full of gore and sadistic killings and not really the type of book I would like to read all the time especially late at night but for the marvelous Chris Carter I am always prepared to make an exception.A really good psychological
I have read all the books in the series and loved them but I found One By One a little drab in comparison. Don't get me wrong this is still a great read which held my attention all the way through but I just felt it lacked something and was a bit lacklustre in comparison with its predecessors. Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia are great protagonists who work very effectively as a team and are a pleasure to read. The plotting (covered by the synopsis) is intricate, gruesome and definitely not for
I had very mixed feelings about ONE BY ONE. It's definitely not for the squeamish. Serial killer using particularly nasty ways to kill victims and broadcasting live on the internet. He gets people to choose the manner of the deaths by voting. The plot wasn't exactly original; I've read similar.I wasn't overly impressed with the writing either. It didn't always flow for me and the author had the habit of injecting back stories for characters in a way that didn't flow well for me.What kept me

'I need your help, Detective. Fire or water?' Detective Robert Hunter of the LAPD's Homicide Special Section receives an anonymous call asking him to go to a specific web address - a private broadcast. Hunter logs on and a show devised for his eyes only immediately begins. But the caller doesn't want Detective Hunter to just watch, he wants him to participate, and refusal is simply not an option. Forced to make a sickening choice, Hunter must sit and watch as an unidentified victim is tortured and murdered live over the Internet. The LAPD, together with the FBI, use everything at their disposal to electronically trace the transmission down, but this killer is no amateur, and he has covered his tracks from start to finish. And before Hunter and his partner Garcia are even able to get their investigation going, Hunter receives a new phone call. A new website address. A new victim. But this time the killer has upgraded his game into a live murder reality show, where anyone can cast the deciding vote.Declare Epithetical Books One by One (Robert Hunter #5)

Rather enjoyed this! This time the killer was quite untouchable and quite a nasty person. Then when things finally 'clicked' it was quite a revelation not to mention similar to, again, the motives of 80's slasher movies, which isn't a bad thing. Quite a nice race against time finish too! Downsides were the author going back to descriptions of face rubbing, hair tugging etc which were absent from the previous book and the Chief saying "is this for real" every other chapter when things wereDet.
